WotzUp June - CRF (Colac Otway) CRF (Colac Otway) is an Australian owned and operated lamb processing company based in Colac, Victoria and employing more than 450 people – the second largest employer in the region behind only the Government. We process more than one million lambs each year!
The story of CRF is a unique one – a company which was formed on the basis of a number of local people who wanted to build a sustainable company by doing something differently. Our commitment to developing the Colac Otway region and the lamb processing industry remains steadfast as the business grows and flourishes.
Since its inception in 2000 CRF has continued to grow and achieve many things – including scooping awards in the 2005 Greenhouse Challenge, Occupational Health and Safety Innovation awards, Processing Innovation Awards and Diveristy@Work Awards – a great representation of the overall accomplishments of a growing company.
Promoting an ideal of supply chain management from ‘paddock to plate’, CRF processes only the highest quality lamb, adding value to the product as it makes its way to the dinner plates of thousands of families around the world. It has recently expanded its service base and built a new, highly innovative cold store facility – Otway Fresh.
CRF has proudly achieved export listings worldwide, including the prestigious European Union, Japan and the United States. CRF also has a very strong domestic presence.
CRF continues to push the boundaries of supply chain alliances and is currently investigating the export of fresh lamb to the US, through a unique direct relationship between a US based supermarket and supplier. This is an exciting project, with unique and innovative packaging a critical part of this relationship, which will differentiate CRF from the current product on the market. DDG are assisting CRF in the development of the packaging and marketing concepts.
