Schooling People About the Value of Timetabling


Even the most complete and sophisticated product of your type isn’t necessarily a guarantee of market growth if your packaging and presentation doesn’t match the quality of your product. This was the problem that Timetabling Solutions faced.

Timetabling Solutions sells and supports The Timetabler, widely acclaimed as the most powerful and flexible school timetabling software available anywhere.

While The Timetabler’s reputation as a world-class timetabling software package was recognised, but there was a perception that the packaging, support materials and general corporate identity didn't match the quality of the software. And this perception could hold back company growth.

Part of the problem stemmed from the The Timetabler’s lack of support materials (all clients received at that time was the software CD and a manual that was printed in black and white).

These materials did little to enhance the The Timetabler’s reputation for world-class sophistication. There was also a shortage of promotional materials, as well as a lack of consistency in the branding in the communication materials that clients received.

Dzign Diezel Group (DDG) was retained to completely overhaul the company’s client support systems and corporate image.

DDG quickly discovered that the tone, style and content of Timetabling Solutions communications didn’t fully match its business model.

Because Timetabling Solutions was based around a collaborator model the company required far more integrated support for its clients, and a communications system that emphasised personalised service, support and comprehensive solutions.

First, DDG designed and produced a new folder to house the software CD and the user manual (which is now bound like a book with an impressive gold cover).

A brand new corporate identity is now used across all communication materials – business cards, letterhead and corporate brochures, as well as product material.

TT2.jpgDDG also revamped the Timetabling Solutions website, replacing the existing Flash-based site with an easily updated content management system. The new site has many new tools that complement the company’s phone and personal support systems.These include:

• A secure client section;

• A searchable knowledgebase;

• A html-based newsletter;

• Downloadable product updates;

• A software activation system.

Initially, the people at Timetabling Solutions were reluctant to invest in something that seemed so intangible. But they now recognise the significant benefits that a sophisticated corporate identity and a comprehensive and professionally presented suite of support materials can bring to a world-class product.

Most importantly, the feedback from clients has been excellent.
