Full steam ahead – on track and on-line

Queenscliff’s Blues Train is a unique entertainment experience. As the drinking, dining, dancing and sightseeing spectacular chugs across the picturesque Bellarine Peninsular, patrons groove to the lively offerings of some of Australia’s most respected blues musicians.

Hugo’s decision to invest in a quality website has paid off. “This is one of the biggest investments I’ve made, but the outcomes are well worth it. The website has become the Blues Train office. My clientele are information-hungry – the people organising Blues Train groups demand lots of detail. The website makes it all available to them, in their own time, whether they’re local, interstate or overseas. They can download and print a brochure, view photo galleries, check upcoming dates, link to ticket sales, view answers to FAQs and ask questions.”BT1.jpg

Everything you ever wanted to know about the Blues Train is available on the website. Simple-to-use content management facility, prominent FAQs and a clear navigation tree ensure even remote visitors have an up-to-date run-down of the Blues Train. The result for Hugo is considerable time and cost savings. He is freed up to look after other business interests and no longer has to produce expensive, colour brochures.

Working with DDG is another choice Hugo doesn’t regret. “DDG made the process hassle-free and their service back-up has been invaluable. These guys really know what they’re doing, but they never intimidate me with their expertise. They understand my level of technical literacy, and are happy to cater to it with easy explanations and bucketloads of patience.”

Hugo points out that there were cheaper options available. “I could have spent less on a website but I’m convinced the extra investment has been well worth it in terms of functionality, design and on-going support. A year down the track and I’m already looking at upping my investment to focus on some search engine marketing and upgrading of editorial content. I’m using results of the Live Stats, on-line surveys and FAQ responses to plan the next phase. That’s my market research in action. We’re even exploring a downloadable music option for the future.”

Increased flexibility for this one-man business operation has been a fundamental benefit. Hugo explains, “DDG helped train up my web manager so now I can organise my own content updates. I can even manage the website remotely – no matter where I happen to be in the world or what time of day or night it is, I can log into the Blues Train ‘office’ and have everything at my fingertips.”

So it’s full steam ahead for the Blues Train (pun intended). Hit the website at www.bluestrain.com.au to check what’s happening down the track (plug intended). Click here to visit the site now
