Getting the good oil to market – all packaged up Green Olive Gourmet is a young, energetic
organisation producing, wholesaling and retailing a range of quality
gourmet foods and kitchenware. Initially looking to take their
own-grown olive oil to market, they have since expanded their
operations exponentially and needed a dynamic packaging-based brand to
drive product distribution and promote the first retail outlet.
DDG
delivered a bright solution around a bold central olive motif and a
potent positioning statement: “entice your senses”. The brave, clean
look is designed to attract attention and appeal to foodies. With an
ever-expanding product range, it was critical to develop an on-going
graphic language to communicate the numerous product offerings.
The
original olive motif has been evolved and married with a range of
multi-coloured icons to represent the various food lines, such as jam,
honey, relish and dukkah. Each product is distinctive yet still
recognisable as part of the Green Olive family range.
Taking
colour cues from the hero product, the creative team undertook a
complete branding exercise including shop signage and point of sale,
vehicle livery, printed materials, packaging and on-line entity.
The
brand is being distilled into a unique range of gifts and homewares
(aprons, tea towels, ceramics), taking full advantage of the
reproducible characteristics of the motifs.
The gift hamper
market also beckons and Green Olive plans to attract a hearty share of
corporate clients to this side of the business. A range of secondary,
carton-type packaging has been designed to propel this new enterprise.
Greg
O’Donoghue of Green Olive is delighted with the results. “We have an
aggressive expansion model planned for the next twelve months. Our
distinctive brand has already positioned us at the top-end of the
gourmet market and we are negotiating some really big distribution and
franchising deals. DDG has been with us every step of the way, since we
first asked for their professional input about two and a half years
ago. Thanks to the designs, our products have stand-out shelf presence
and the strength of the brand is opening up all sorts of doors for us.”

to invest in quality packaging design to attract attention and
stimulate sales. The outcome is a fast-growing, evolving business that
is truly reaping rewards for its owners.
